My husband was in a biking accident and taken to Foothills Hospital with a collapsed lung, broken shoulder and 3 broken ribs ... The ER was excellent and took immediate care of him. The ICU was excellent --- especially Andrew - the ICU nurse. The best! The doctors are good --- Dr. Johs is the best and very caring. All that said, it is a shame that the staffing needs serious improvement and more consideration for the patients --- not have the patients subjected to their schedules and convenience. Example between 6am and 7am they decided to move my husband to another room at another floor and why did they do this early in the morning to a patient that is going on day 18 at their hospital? Due to their schedules and convenience --- using no common sense or consideration for the patient. How about thinking of a more decent hour as to not stress the patient and the family? To say the least, I am very disturbed by their lack of consideration. This just adds to another few things that happened: 1. When he arrived at the hospital he had no infection, then he developed a serious infection. When I asked the doctor how it happened, the answer was due to a needle or a tube from the hospital. 2. After the first tube was taken out and he could finally be given a shower after then days, when I arrived for the evening visit, the night aide (Dakota) told me that she was going to be very busy so if my husband wanted a shower she could do it at 1 am (yes, you read right, one o'clock in the morning) or he could wait until the next day shift, when I said that was unacceptable, then she proceeded to tell me I could do it myself, when I asked if she would be standing outside the door (my husband in a very fragile condition so he can not walk without assistance and is at risk of falling) she said no. It was not until the RN came in and said he would be given a shower eventually and I asked 1 am? that she realized what had happened and ordered the aide to assist my husband with a shower. When Dakota told me I could do it, I said I would be happy to do it but she would assume all liability if my husband fell and got hurt. 3. Since my husband had a serious infection, I wanted to make sure that the sheets and pillowcases got changed every day due to sanitary reasons. A few days ago, another aide told me that Foothills is a "green hospital" and they change the sheets every other day. Seriously? You have a patient that has leaks from the wounds and sometimes blood on the sheets or pillows and I get a lecture about Foothills being a green hospital and saving the planet? 4. When he arrived from surgery number 2 on Friday evening, the person who brought him up rang the bell for nurse assistance so they could transfer him to the hospital bed, the bell just rang and rang until I walked to the nurse's station to get them since they were ignoring them. Only then did they go to the room to help. So this is Day 18 at Foothills. Just want to get my husband out of there after they can get rid of the infection he encountered while being at the hospital. I did call the section that normally responds to reviews with contact us but they are not open until 9 am and said the answering machine states they will return the call within 24 hours.
