My sister had a IR procedure which was horribly painful! Donna the nurse who checked her in was so shaky I am not at all surprised that she failed to get a proper IV, causing my sister tons of pain and bruising. Donna should not be ANYWHERE near needles! (They would not let me in yet but I was Skyping from the waiting area.) Then she thought my sister could go to surgery without an IV!?! I heard through my sister's skype, her say this several times as she was going in and out of my sister's pre-op bay. That was the point the red flags began raising. I feel like a horrible sister as I felt something was off. Sigh.. I should have listened to my intuition. We should have known at that point to take my sister and leave! We tried to have faith and believe that she was in good hands. She couldn't even breath and the pain was exacerbated each time she tried. She began getting really scared! I was too. She was not hyperventilating, it appeared as if she was suffocating! She was finally stabilized. Snot all over her face to the point it dried! We asked several times for it to be cleaned.... nope! 25 minutes go by and we actually had to leave her and go way down the hall to go get hard, abrasive, and tough brown paper towels from the bathroom. The nursing staff from start to finish was something out of American Horror Story! Scott my sister's post-op nurse was extremely unprofessional and unqualified to care for my sister or anyone! It was Twilight Zone x Bates Motel x American Horror Story! He was very unqualified for the job he was hired for. My sister's husband and I were beside ourselves. Scott was very invalidating, he refused to talk to me, my family, OR MY SISTER (the patient) during or after this ordeal! My sister was then moved to a isolation room and treated like a crackhead the rest of the time we were there. The surgeon and post-op staff called and emergency psychological evaluation due to her response coming out of anesthesia!!!!!!! What in the world???!! So Adam, the psychological evaluator arrived and was the only staff all day which seemed to be from planet Earth. Adam understood and was very compassionate. He couldn't give me a clear reason he was sitting in my sister's room either. He said he would tell the surgeon it was medically related (my coming out of anesthesia ) and not mentally related. What in the world???!! The surgeon was consulted by phone as he denied coming to the scene during the issue as my sister was coming out of the anesthesia. Then the surgeon (who was not present during the ordeal) called a psychological evaluation due to the extreme reaction to the pain and not being able to breathe. God knows what that place put in her medical record! My poor sister was treated in such a way, she felt devalued, victimized, traumatized and 100% regretful for choosing Cooley Dickinson/MGH for any of her medical care. She was made to feel like she did something wrong and I was there, she did not. Adam said she did not as well. We will NEVER be having any further procedures or surgeries here. The entire nursing, surgical staff, and hospital neglected my sister's care and well being. DO NOT TRUST YOUR CARE TO THIS FACILITY! They are not accountable or compassionate. DANGEROUS!
