Ellis Hospital

Worst ER in the free world. Exepct an 8 hr wait minimum. The staff manning the front desk are rude and are not afraid to let you know they could care less. The only bright spot in the entire place is the helpful and friendly security staff.

Inpatient stay, not ER related. On day shift meant waiting 1hr or more for my call bell to be answered. The morning after abdominal surgery I waited 2 hrs for someone to come give me pain medication. I was stuck in bed (abdominal surgery) , tried to call the main desk, ripped call bell out of wall, anything to get someone to answer. Nurses response was not adequate for why it took 2 hrs. A3 unit. I'm a RN so I understand the problem of short staffing but would have took 5 mins to medicate me or delegate help, or call the charge RN etc to medicate me. My doctors were nice, saw the assistant first every morning, then a quick check by my surgeon later in the day. The room was very clean and quiet. I only came to this hospital because my surgeon is based out of here. I know Ellis reputation and I don't think I would elect to return here even though I'm local. I work at SPH I go there and their ER. I just didn't trust the SPH abdominal surgeon there for my surgery, he had too many complications post-OP.

Took really good care of my grandmother, patient and attentive staff and very knowledgeable. Overall a great experience as far as hospitals go

I see why this place has the ratings it does. I live 5min away from this hospital and it was my first and last time visiting this location. I don’t believe Ive ever even waited sooo long in Albany. 5 hour wait to not be seen. Ridiculous. Take my chances home and pray to live another day. If I could give no stars I would.

It's very difficult to believe some of these posts regarding poor service at Ellis Hospital. I am one of the MOST CRITICAL people on earth regarding poor service and I can assure anyone that I received nothing but OUTSTANDING CARE by the staff (Professional and otherwise) at Ellis. I will detail my care in an upcoming post but I felt it necessary to immediately respond to the negative nature of some remarks posted on this site.
