I am absolutely horrified at the lack of thorough care with this facility! Brought my 5 year old in this past Sunday for abdominal pain and I’m just at a lost for the treatment/care given.
First off, when checking him in the front desk staff didn’t follow through with standard procedure to ask for an ID (in order to properly ID who I was) and didn’t ask if any of the contact or insurance information had changed. I had to tell her everything that changed, so that it could be billed properly. Secondly, the Dr. did a urinalysis to check for blood or infection and. CT to which the urine came back normal, but the CT showed that the bottom of his lungs were collapsed and that was never told to me!!!!!! We were discharged being chalked down to my child just having gas !!!! (Mind you I had informed them as well that my son was being currently treated for bronchitis and wheezing.)
Thirdly, the abdominal pain got worse and he started having chest pain, body shakes, rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, dizziness, and face flushing... so we went back to the ER again last night. Once we get there they choose to do an X-ray in order to check on his lungs to see if they were clear or not. By the end of them checking him and the xrays, the Dr. then told me that his lungs were clear and that he was lead to believe/think that this was allergy related issues and possible asthma which go hand in hand. Stated that I needed him to see an ENT referral to pulmonary Dr for a formal diagnoses of asthma to be done/confirmed. Also, to follow up with his Pediatric Dr.
Lastly, we go in today at noon to follow up with his Pediatric Doctor bc he is still having a lot of pain and issues breathing. She does a thorough check of him and reads through all of the Doctor notes from Both ER trips, informing me that they noted findings of the bottom of his lungs being collapsed and significant constipation along with other noted symptoms that matched up with him having pneumonia !!!! Which means that the medications he has been on attempting to treat and cure his bronchitis hasn’t worked.
Finally, thanks to his amazing Pediatric Doctor thoroughly checking on him and following up with his through this entire situation, we were finally able to know what was going on with my son and now he will be on antibiotics that hopefully should nip this pneumonia in the butt.
I do not and will not recommend this Hospital to anyone ever. I am so furious about how all of this was handled by them and the lack of care to truly treat or diagnose my child. Do not come to this Hospital, make the drive to Lakeland Regional for the proper care.
