Frederick Memorial Hospital

People tend to always complain about hospitals however I have never had a negative experience here. I have been in the hospital for illness as well as children’s births and it has always been a pleasant experience. The nurses have always taken great care of me and my family. The doctors tend to be in and out but you get that at most hospitals. I have no problem taking family or myself to FMH.

Had a child here 25 years ago and found the maternity staff very cold and rude. I've been to the ER a few times and experiences were good. Recently, my father has been to the ER twice. The first time was not good due to the fact that nurses kept saying they would talk to the doctor or see if doctor could stop in or get more information and they never checked back with us. My family had to constantly get up to ask them the status. They were however, friendly. Second time my father in ER was amazing. Dr. Scott, Nurse Laura, Seth and Mary Kate were efficient and compassionate. Dr. Scott went above and beyond. She kept us informed of what they were doing, what they were waiting on. She contacted my dad's primary care physician for his peace of mind, she stayed after her shift to follow through with us. Nurse Laura was attentive, friendly and answered all of questions. She was so gentle and thorough with my dad. It got a little frustrating due to his medical situation and what he had already been through but between Dr. Scott and Nurse Laura they kept us comfortable physically and mentally. My dad and my family were impressed to say the least.

My family and I were in an accident and were transported to this facility. The staff there was great especially the gentleman who greets people as one comes in to the ER. The facility is sort of scary because there are people in beds all along the hallway, waiting room has torn seats. It kinda reminds me of an old dinner. the reception desk is a half of a cubical furniture. It almost seemed that we were in a third world country hospital. I hope they renovate the facility soon because it is needed. Not at all like Shady Grove Adventist, Holly Cross or Georgetown.

I had a great birth Experience recently. Nurse April should be kept there forever. She is wonderful, she cuts some of your stress out, she assures you that you are in good hands, she is professional and knows what she does. Overall, the all nursing team at Family Center was great!

I waited 2 and a half hours in an ER waiting room. There were people there waiting longer than me. My triage nurse never even looked me in the face. In fact while I was talking to her, she began talking to another person in the room. To bring her water, something I wasn't able to drink all day without puking blood. Cute. After my second time puking blood in the waiting room restroom, I left and went to Mertus. I was seen right away and it saved my life. I know 30 minutes seems like a long drive in an emergency, but I promise you it's worth it. Today it was the difference between emergency surgery or dying in a hospital waiting room. You guys should be shut down.
