I visited garden park twice in the same day with my daughter who was running a 103.5 fever, swollen lymph nodes, red/sore throat. The Dr. swabbed her for flu and strep, but said if she had either one it's too early for them to show up positive, since her symptoms only started that morning, and said it might be a virus
LowBut, he told me to being her back if she started vomiting and couldn't hold anything down. (This particular Dr. is pretty awesome by the way. We've seen him on prior visits.) Later that night her fever shot up to 105.0, and she started vomiting. So I brought her back. At this point I'm pretty sure she's got strep. The triage nurse was awesome! We get back to a room, and the lead nurse walks in and said, "well she doesn't seem too sick, or look too sick to me! (Clicks her tongue at my almost 5yo like you would to an infant.) What's going on with her?" Mind you my daughter is out of it from the fever and puking. I was pretty appalled at her unprofessionalism. Speaking to me as if I am an idiot. So I bit my tongue, and told her everything, hoping they'd reawab her. She said that puking was to be expected with virus. Gave us zofran and sent us home. Took her to the pediatrician yesterday, low and behold, SHE HAS STREP!!!! This is my 4th child, and it's not my first rodeo. I know strep when I see it. Don't know if I'll be coming back.
