My 28 year old daughter went to the ER at Lakeland in St. Joseph, MI on July 11, 2019. She was having migraines & wanted to be treated. In return, she was treated as if she was a drug addict. The nurse's exact words were, "Sorry things didn't go as you planned", as if my daughter was dope fiend. Among other things that she disrespectfully said, that stuck out to me the most. I have a serious problem with that particular individual & I will handle this situation with extreme measures. Not all black people are on illegal narcotics. My daughter doesn't even smoke marijuana. On top of that, she has a government job that pays very well. STOP JUDGING PEOPLE BY THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN! You never know who you are treating. Now I'm taking this to the highest measures & I pray that the individual that made those statements will be reprimanded for whatever issues she may have towards people of color!

This place is absolutely ridiculous. Almost three months later after my car accident and I’m still having to deal with them. They had said that they had it all figured out with the billing situation a month ago yet I just now got a bill for when I was there and now they’re trying to make me pay it which makes no sense because I was told that my car insurance company was going to cover almost all of it because I had full coverage on my car and what was left would go to my medical insurance company so something got miscommunicated or not added on because this is just ridiculous. I would never of went to the hospital if I knew I had to deal with all of this.

So it’s been about 4 months now but I feel like people need to know what a terrible hospital this is. I was pregnant and had to be induced I was about a week late. For one the nurses are terrible, their bedside manner is horrific. I really didn’t want to get the epidural but things were taking a while it had been about 36 hours and I was having off the chart, five minute long contractions so I finally gave in. The first guy that came to do the epidural was very rude, tried to make my fiancé leave the room, stuck me 3 times AND DIDNT EVEN GET IT IN. As I’m laying there flailing around in the bed the nurse says “just press the button for more epidural.” I shouldn’t have been able to move in the first place so they should have known something wasn’t right but I just kept pressing that button and flailing around some more. It took them TWELVE hours to realize that the epi was just leaking out into the bandage and then it was another 2 hours before the other anesthesiologist could make it to my room. Because apparently they only have one anesthesiologist on the weekends and she was in surgery. And on top of all of that after it was all over and we were in recovery we ordered some food to be brought up and the bread on my sandwich was moldy and my milk was expired. I honestly don’t care if I’m dying I will NEVER and I mean ever go back to Lakeland hospital.
