Okay, granted that this is not the Hilton and nor should it have to compete, it is a hospital. Health care providers are not miracle workers, for the most part they are compassionate caring human beings doing their best to alleviate illness. Given the nurse to patient ratio it is not possible to address every need immediately. There has to be a system for treating the sickest first and it can sometimes seem a little unfair or callous. While a laxative may seem to be at the top of your list, it involves a process. The nurse has to call the doctor's office or exchange and leave a message. If he's really busy, the return call might be delayed. When (s) he does call back, nurse then has to write a telephone order, the order has to be transmitted to pharmacy who has to get the medication to the nursing unit so it can be given. This could take hours. Meanwhile, that nurse has still been busy. She is not ignoring you and your calling her three more times on the call bell to ask about it only slows the entire process. This same process has to be followed for anything not already in the doctor's orders. That sour look on the nurses' face sometimes means that they have to use the bathroom themselves. And, yes, I have been a patient here three (3) times.

Obici has the best labor and delivery unit that anyone could ask for. We just recently delivered our child there and almost had the same exact staff as our first in 2015. They took amazing care of us and even gave my wife and I a congratulatory meal of our choice!

Two stars at best. I have a whole list of problems that have been below average in patient care. I’ve been to the ER twice this year and both times I felt I was treated slowly and without care. My pain level was a 10 after a motorcycle accident and I was not given any pain medication to help me until about 3-4 hours in. I wasn’t given a room though was charged for one. They sat me in an uncomfortable chair. Basically the normal chairs in the waiting room. I just went to the ER yesterday and AGAIN was not treated for pain until I asked 3 times. I was trying to stay awake and was shivering in pain. 2/5 AT BEST.

The medical treatment my mother received was substandard. The NP handling my mother's recent hospital stay was intransigent and short-sighted, to say the least. The so-called Patient Advocate was also anything but an advocate for her patient, she simply towed the "company line". *Extremely* disappointed. And I have had nothing but positive experiences and glowing praise for this hospital and health system prior to this recent stay.

The Doctors, Nurses, equipment, and rooms are all updated, clean, and efficient. Maryview Hospital could learn a thing or two from them. I Learned s lot in the short time I was there.
